Hillside Basalt

A modern approach to a steep site overlooking downtown Basalt. The site had tight setbacks and height limits along with the difficult topography. Facing the garage along the street setback provided a roof deck with a perfect view of downtown Basalt. The upper levels shifted on the site to work with existing topography as well as to capture the incredible Mount Sopris view.

This home was a log kit home in great need of an update.  The home is on 5 acres, but built into a corner of the lot which made it difficult to add any square footage to the East.  The goal was to capitalize on the amazing views of the Roaring Fork Valley, while updating the efficiency of the home and adding a bedroom.  

With a log home, the corners of the home hold significant structural integrity.  The entire Southern wall of the home was removed to capture the view.  It was a difficult trick to keep the existing home standing, while adding onto it.  The finished result is a home that blends a rustic log look and feel with an current mountain vibe.

A home with literally "views for miles". Nestled into a site that takes advantage of the views and sunlight, the home is a vacation home that can accommodate a small family, extended family or even a large gathering with the expansive patio. All on one level, the floor plan is intended for multi-generational use.

Privacy and sound was considered, separating the master bedroom wing from the guest bedroom wing. The great room serves as a gathering spot for all.

This house was designed to take advantage of the big view of Mount Sopris in Carbondale, Colorado.  The owner wanted to take advantage of one story living, while having additional bedrooms upstairs with views.  The basement has a media area and 2 more bedrooms.  The home has a modern feel, with rustic bones.

a mountain rustic home on the Aspen Glen golf course in Carbondale, Colorado.  Designed with fantastic views of Mount Sopris to the front, and the Jack Nicholas golf course to the rear, every room is taking advantage of Colorado at its best.  This is a one story home, with future space planned out over the garage.  The master bedroom is to one side of the home, with the other two bedroom suites at the other side, ensuring privacy.

An extensive remodel, the owners sought to update their 1980's mountain home.  Feng Shui principles were an important design element.  This was a collaborative effort by WoodStone Builders, Randa Morgan -  r a n d a LLC Interior Design, AXIS Productions Architecture, and Alex Stark Feng Shui Design. Cabinetry by Casey Young. a duplex on a corner lot, but complicated square footage and design regulations.  By separating the entrances, each home has its privacy.  While the floor plans are not identical, they are very similar which creates similar value in each unit.

This house was designed on a tight lot on the river valley ranch golf course in Carbondale, Colorado.  Accommodating golf course views, the house was lifted up to create a little more privacy.  The clients requested stucco, but the neighborhood has a restriction on how much can be used.  So a combination of stone, stucco and wood siding create a welcoming cottage look.

This home was designed in the Settlement neighborhood of River Valley Ranch in Carbondale, Colorado. On a small lot with a beautiful river view, the Owners wanted a one story home that took advantage of the location. With the Great Room roof sloping into the center of the house, the view of the river floods into the space. 

A TV room is just off of the Great Room, which includes a secret door behind a bookshelf. This door leads to a closet which helps provide extra storage that is not seen. This home is slab on grade construction, keeping it small and efficient.

This home was designed with outdoor space in mind.  The covered deck off of the great room enables outdoor living almost 12 months a year.  The clients are from South Africa, and added a touch from home with the brick accent wall.

This small, dated home was in need of a remodel and additional space for a growing family to use as a vacation home.  By adding a dormer upstairs, 2 bedrooms were added.  A garage was also added and connected to the existing home through a new staircase.  Due to the high fire danger rating, all new materials had to have a class "a" fire rating, which eliminated being able to match the existing siding.  A cement fiber board siding with modern detailing was the solution.

A home in the Roaring Fork Valley that wanted to add a media room and guest bedroom, while maintaining the character of the existing farmhouse style.  The constraints were a steep hill to the East side of the home, while the rest of the site was unable to be added to because of the Roaring Fork River and existing garage.  New codes did not allow cedar shake roofing.

A mountain home near the convergence of the Roaring Fork and Crystal rivers.  This home was designed to take advantage of Mt Sopris views above the garage, while enjoying the river views from the rest of the home.

An existing patio home set of plans was converted into a set of custom home plans by adding a front covered porch and a 3-car garage.  The great room and master bedroom overlook a fantastic backyard water feature and Mount Sopris.

a smaller aspen glen house on a tight lot.  An open floor plan lends itself to the house feeling larger.  The kitchen has 2 islands for a family that loves to cook.

RVR "cabin"

this home was designed around an unobstructed view of Mount Sopris.  By placing the garage up and around the house, almost every room of the house has a great view.  It is a second home and the client wanted a mountain "cabin" to get away to.
